CIB-104 AUTOMATIC CAPPER
SPECIFICATION SHEET

Containers

Screw top containers with width no more than 17 cm (7") and length no more than 25 cm (10"), minimum base measurement of 50 mm (2"). The height must be no more than 35 cm (14") and no less than 7 cm (3"). The machine may be modified for larger containers at an additional charge.

The machine includes a spindle cap tightener which requires caps to be the highest point on the container and the cap must be wider than any handle.

Caps

Standard machines may be used for metal or plastic caps from 18 mm to 58 mm. Cap chutes are easily changed for different cap sizes. Special machines may be constructed for larger caps. The machine is also capable of closing "snap" caps.

Speed

The machine "flow" speed is adjustable to match the speed of the conveyor (supplied separately). Maximum speed is 9 m (30 ft.)/min. The machine will accept randomly spaced containers. Typical maximum speeds are as follows.

Containers/Minute
Container Size
Round 1 LITER/1 Qt.100
'F' 1-Liter/1 Qt.80
Round 4 liter/1 gal.60
'F' 4 liter/1 gal.50

Operation

The bottles enter the machine and the caps are automatically placed on the bottles. The bottles proceed to the cap tightening section where the cap is held down with a chain that is synchronized with the conveyor. The container is held by two belts that are also synchronized with the conveyor. The bottle cap passes through 4 sets of rotating spindles that contact the sides of the caps and spin the cap tight. After tightening, the capped bottles exit the machine on the conveyor.

A worker must regularly refill the cap hopper which has the cap supply.

Installation

The machine is shipped assembled and is capable of being installed by plant personnel. The machine must be connected to a 110-120 v/60 hz/1 phase electrical source.
The machine is designed to be placed over an existing conveyor and the speeds of the holding belts are adjustable to meet the speed of the conveyor.
The CIB-104-HC model includes its own conveyor if no conveyor is available, or a separate conveyor may be purchased.

Change of Container

When the container is changed, the height of the closing assembly is adjusted using the height adjustment motor. If the cap size is changed, the width of the guide bands and positions of the spindles are adjusted using adjustment knobs.

Maintenance

The machine is designed to provide the user with long service and minimal maintenance. The standard frame is a tough welded steel with an industrial coating. All parts in contact with the cap are stainless steel or plastic to prevent corrosion.

The machine includes an illustrated operation/maintenance manual.

Safety

The machine is designed for independent operation and there are no large external moving parts.

Noise Control

The A level is less than 20 db.
